No. 9 McGill-Toolen (Mobile, Ala.) earned the right to paint its colors on Mobile’s Cannon at the Loop, winning 43-0 at Murphy (Mobile).
The Yellowjackets took a 29-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in the 85th year of the rivalry.

McGill-Toolen quarterback Bubba Thompson had touchdown passes of 31, 75, and 18 yards. One of his tosses was to wide receiver Marlon Williams, who threw an 80-yard touchdown pass of his own to Turner McLaughlin on the game’s first play.
The Yellowjackets’ defense never let Murphy have an opening. Bryson Massey returned a blocked punt for a touchdown. McGill-Toolen also stopped the Panthers on fourth down at the 1-yard line late in the game and Evan Collier recovered a Murphy fumble with just under two minutes left to preserve the shutout.
McGill-Toolen (3-0) will play at Foley on Sept. 16. Murphy (2-1) will play Friday vs. Montgomery (Semmes).
